Cancer Council NT

When a donation becomes an issue!

Representatives of Cancer Council NT got more than they bargained for after collecting a donated trailer load of sand when one of the trailer tyres deflated.

HB Workshop quickly dispatched Jordan Firley in his trusty service vehicle and got the Cancer Council NT back on the road.

New DrumBlaster Operational

HB Concrete has invested in a DrumBlaster which uses build up control technology to reduce agitator mixer build up by 85%.

Using the DrumBlaster for a few minutes each day is proven to reduce build-up and can be very useful to use during the day after delivering high strength, sticky or colored loads.

The system incorporates an extendable boom with a rotating head allowing the mixer drum to remain stationary and the highly efficient electric driven pump combined with the water jets at the tip of the boom remove the days build up before it hardens.

The process reduces water consumption, lowers fuel costs and increases production capacity.

The DrumBlaster will also assist in ensuring our customers receive a quality concrete mix and remove the safety issues associated with cleaning concrete build up from agitator bowls.

Henbury School, NT

On behalf of all the students, staff and teachers of Henbury School, we thank you and the whole management of HB Blocks for donating 200 pieces of hollow blocks that we wil use in establishing our new garden beds. Your donation will go a long way in helping our students with special needs acquire their horticulture skills and have the opportunity to harvest seasonal produce in our vegetable garden that links to their nutrition program.

You guys are awesome! In particular, we would like to thank your staff at the reception for being so accommodating and friendly when we approached them and told them about our request. I haven’t had the opportunity to ask the name of the guy who delivered the hollow blocks. He was an amazing driver who managed to deliver the bricks straight to our farm shed with a very limited space to manoeuvre the fork lift. He was so easy to talk to and very kind to put the bricks into place that saved us heaps of lifting. Of course, Mehdi, thanks for being so generous and helping us and your manager approve our request. All in all, I think your staff is a great team!

Again, we thank you for all your help and support. We may not repay you but hopefully someday soon someone will return the blessing to guys a hundred fold.

Kind regards,
Joan Ocampo

Civil Contractors Federation NT recognises NT Civil Legends

FOUR civil construction pioneers were inducted into the Northern Territory Civil Contractors Federation Hall of Fame at the recent Earth Awards for Excellence.

The four - Peter Hassell, Fraser Henry, Michael Halkitis and Dave McHugh - played key roles in the development of a locally based civil construction industry over the past four decades.

Civil Contractors Federation Northern Territory chief executive officer Neil Halligan said the men pioneered in an industry that was changed when the NT Government of the day decided to outsource all its work.

"These guys were at the forefront of taking on the work of government when they decided to outsource to contractors and closed down their 2 and a half mile spot which is now Parap Grove," Mr Halligan said. "They built respected national and international companies and took the risk out in the market place."
