Construction of Northline’s new $27 million Darwin transport and logistics facility located at Darwin Business Park, 16 Dawson Street, East Arm commenced in March 2015. Once completed, the facility will provide more than 14,500 square metres of warehousing and under roof freight operations.
The project which is due for completion in August 2015 is managed by Vaughn Constructions with the concrete supply and finishing awarded to HB Concrete Pty Ltd and V&G Concreting respectively.
Prior to commencement HB Concrete Pty Ltd’s Research and Development department provided invaluable technical advice and produced a mix design that would meet the client’s requirements and was suited to Northern Territory conditions.
HB Concrete Pty Ltd recently completed delivery of the 8000m3 of concrete to the new depot consisting of forty (40) pours to complete the S40 post tension slabs and meeting the following specifications:
• Nominal shrinkage 700 micro strain
• 9mpa at 24hrs,
• 25 MPA at 4 days and
• 4.8 MPA flexural concrete, S32 and S25
Individual concrete pours ranged from 150m3 to approximately 600m3 with independent testing performed by a NATA accredited laboratory. The approved specification was achieved on each pour.
The concrete element of the project was completed a month ahead of schedule and can be contributed to the hard work and commitment of the HB Concrete team.
